PVS-14R

The PVS-14R is an upgraded version of the renowned PVS-14 night vision monocular, now crafted from durable, lightweight aluminum for enhanced performance and ruggedness. Retaining all the core features that made the PVS-14 a go-to choice for military, law enforcement, and outdoor enthusiasts, the PVS-14R offers the same optics, manual gain control, and more. One of the key improvements of the PVS-14R is the addition of a remote battery pack port, providing the ability to connect an external power source for extended runtime in the field. The PVS-14R is fully compatible with all existing PVS-14 accessories, allowing for easy integration into existing setups. Whether for military operations, search and rescue missions, or recreational nighttime activities, the PVS-14R delivers the proven performance of its predecessor, with the added benefit of increased power capacity and enhanced durability.

TUBE SELECTION

For our in stock inventory, we list the center resolution (LP), SNR, EBI, Halo, and FOM.

Center resolution is much like resolution on a screen, the higher the better. However, for a head borne system, a resolution over 64 is indistinguishable to the naked eye.

SNR, or Signal to Noise Ratio, is essentially low light resolution. It is the single most important spec, in our opinion, for determining low light performance. The higher the better!

EBI, or Equivalent Background Illumination, is essentially the lowest light level that a tube can produce a usable image. Sounds important right? It is, but the importance is usually grossly overstated. The truth is, anything UNDER 2.5 will be just fine for 99% of users.

Halo is the ring or bloom around a light source when viewed through an image tube. The lower the halo value, the smaller the bloom.

FOM, or Figure of Merit, is obtained by multiplying center resolution by the SNR. We recommend ignoring this value when selecting a tube. Instead, examine its components separately as it doesn’t always accurately depict a tube’s performance.
