The PICTAIL mounting system integrates a traditional dovetail shoe used on helmet-mounted night vision devices with a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail interface for weapon platforms, delivering enhanced precision and versatility without sacrificing compatibility. It interfaces with standard dovetail receptacles, while its specially engineered single-slot Picatinny rail pairs with the ADM MQD mount to provide an adjustable mounting footprint. In standalone optic mode, the system offers over 4.5 inches of rear offset, and when reversed for clip-on use, the rear offset shrinks to just 1.5 inches, requiring only four rail slots in front of a day optic, making it ideal for compact platforms such as SBRs and pistols. Developed in partnership with American Defense Manufacturing, the PICTAIL and MQD combine ADM’s proven Picatinny mounting technology with a lightweight, rapid-transition dovetail design to enable seamless transitions between helmet and weapon-mounted configurations.
